Wow - high water on Kennebecassis

I got out tonight for a couple of hours near Sussex. I was surprised at how high the water was. A stretch that I had waded a couple of weeks ago at about knee depth was up to my ribs. Water was still pretty clear. We did have some showers again here today so the river should stay up for a while yet.

Fish were quite active about an hour before dark. A lot of little salmon parr around and they would slash at a dry fly as soon as it hit the water. Too bad large trout aren't that stupid and impulsive! I did find a couple of dumb ones and lost a very nice fish that was feeding from under a tree that had fallen in.

If anybody has been putting off a float trip because you thought the river might have dropped down, don't worry - you're good to go.
