No I always use same leader with wet/ dry. If I switch to salmon from trout I will go from a 4 or 6 lb. leader to an 8. Some taper there leaders from 10 to 8 to 6 using blood knots or surgens knots ( there are many different types of knots) or you can just buy tapered leader. Just more expensive but does lie in the water a little nicer.
When usng a dry fly I usually use a drying agent like GINK to help keep the fly dry. There are many different types on the market. Sinking tip lines or sinking lines vs floating are usualy used in cases where the water is deep or dirty ilke in the case of spring salmon or early trout in muddy run off conditions.
Everyone has different situations and preferances
Hope this helps
