Guys,

How's the Bartibog river recently, any luck down there? Usually this time of year it should pretty good.

Any flies suggestion, dry or wet you think?
The run should start pretty soon, I haven't been yet this year. I've caught fish in there from a tiny wet nymph pattern to huge mouse imitation, so fly pattern....HHHMMMMFFFF, tuff one LOL!

I hear there's lots of stripers in the mouth of the Bartibog this year. Far more than anyone remembers ever seeing. That's not good news for the trout and salmon smolt. There's so many this year that Fisheries is considering a striper sport fishery next season.
I also heard there hasn't been much of a trout run yet this year of the Barti, but they should have gone through by now. I used to do well on that river the last two weeks of May.

My best fishing on the Bartibog is usually just around the corner, last 2 weeks of June first week of July, in tune with the wild strawberries picking dates. Hence we dubbed it ''the strawberry run''.

Well hooked, I'll post fishing reports here and would appreciate you do same so we may monitor the run and maybe impact on each other's success?

No need to name pools or exact fishing area. Too many trolls just waiting for us guys to do all the legwork lol
. Just general information about catch ('n' release) efforts...

Good fishing.

I was there last Saturday and the river was full of small trout.
6-8" mostly. I saw a couple of big trout under the big flat rock infront of Fins and Feathers.
They came out to take a look at my bait, but I couldn't get them to bite.

Good Luck Gentlemen.....Rob.

I guess there was a real early run this year in May (highly uncanny for this river) and the upper stretches have some decent fish that have been in the system for a month or so now and have darkened up. I caught and released a dozen or so on the weekend from 8 to 13 inches fly fishing the middle section.

We desperately need a full day's rain to get the fish running.

Thight lines,
