Most people use spinners and worms. Be careful if you go by the Hammond River Angling Association, though. Accross the river by the bridge, in behind the restaurant, that stretch of water dumping into the Hammond River is Palmer Brook. You'll see a rock with red paint on it: inside that brook is catch and release only, and that stretch is closed to fishing as of July 1st. As for the catch and release part, we watch it strictly and will call dnr on people who don't adhere to the rules, so play nice!
