Hi I am pretty new to the area and I love to go trout fishing.

I have been asking around and it seems the Miramichi and the Cains is off limits to nymphing. (They told me you weren't allowed to jig (that is jigging not nymphing) but you were allowed to use streamers( as far as fly fishing goes that is close as you can get to jigging for fish)). I have been told that anything other than the big rivers are good to go nymphing.

I have just gotten my residential liscense and I live near the Bartibog river. Right now I am living on McHardy Rd. a little north of Douglastown. If anyone has any suggestions of rivers to try out or wouldn't mind having a partner fishing for the day please give me a pm.

Also wondering if there are any fly tying courses going on. I would like to get into tying my own flies. I currently hand tie my leaders and have great luck with them but haven't tried fly tying.

Thanks
Dragon

You are not allowed to use weighted flies of any type on any scheduled rivers. These are rivers that contain Atlantic Salmon, and they don't want them to be jigged. Since many nymphs are weighted, these are not allowed. If you were to use unweighted nymphs and a sinking or sink tip line, this would be legal.

Thanks for the explanation Morfrost.

Still who ever wrote the rules and regulations should actually come nymphing with me and he will realize 99% of fish hooked do so in there bottom or top lip. No jigging involved. Just a nice drift and let the fish come to you.
Don't agree with the rule or its reason but I will live with it. Lots of other rivers and streams with trout in them.
