gday, just curious goin out campin for a few days and want to do some fishing, will i need to hire a guide? or can i just buy out of province lincence and go?
It depends specifically on where you plan to fish and in some areas when you are here. The complete NB regulations are on line: http://www.gnb.ca/0078/publications/Fish-e.pdf

There are 2 classes of guides in NB. Class 1 guides are professional guides who charge fees to take you fishing or hunting, often through an outfitter. Class 2 guides (also called "license to accompany") are guides who can not charge fees but may accompany an out of province resident while hunting or fishing. The class 2 guide is also allowed to fish or hunt while you are fishing or hunting. If you have a friend who is an NB resident, ask them to go write the guide 2 exam, info available at any Department of Natural Resources office. A number of NB sportsman who have friends or relatives from out of province have a guide's license for this exact purpose.

There are also a few licensing wrinkles if you are fishing tidal or non-tidal waters. NB Tidal water boundaries are defined here: http://www.gnb.ca/0254/TidalWaters-e.asp

Enjoy your visit.

Generally speaking,non-res anglers only need a guide to fish for Atlantic salmon and/or other species(usually trout) on scheduled/guide required salmon rivers.

Just buy your nonresident lic and read the book and it details the rivers where you need a guide. Generally speaking most of the time that a nonresident is required to be guided is when you are fishing for sea run atlantic salmon. Most areas you'd be fine with out one.
