Tons of sturgeon being caught this weekend in Sturgeon alley. I caugh 2 llittle guys today. Biggest was 30". A guy across from me caught a 49"er yesterday. Talked to another fella who got 7, and it wasnt 2 pm yet.
Actually yesterday was the first time I've ever tried for a sturgeon. Man what a bummer! I don't mean to offend anyone that loves to catch these things, and I'm sure the big ones put up a decent fight, but the 2 that I caught that were 30" and under felt like I was pulling in a big weed or a branch. The only reason I knew I had a fish was because the rod tip was twitching a bit. What's up with that? Are they lazy? Cant be, I see them jumping clear out of the water all the time! Where's the spunk when they're caught?
My brother and I were out on Sunday and I hooked into a snub nose that was 42" and had to be pushing 30lbs the girth on it was unreal. Had the boat out and decided to give it a shot from shore on Sturgeon alley cause of the waves and bam. Gave me a great fight
