if you locate some take bare black hooks and rig them up mackeral style and have at it...
Since we're on the topic of herring and I saw some pictures of large herring being prepared at Connor's the other day, I thought I'd ask if anyone catches large herring on a regular basis? I'm talking well over 8". I've caught a few in Saint John Harbour like that years ago, but when boat fishing in Blacks, Beaver or Back Bay, I can't remember ever catching the larger herring, only upto 8". Any Charlotte county fishermen know when and where to find the large herring?

he means like a mackerel rig. 3 to 6 hooks in a row, spaced about a foot apart with each hook on a 3-6" dropper from the main line. add a swivel to this between it and the main line if you like and run the weight about a foot from the end of this "mackerel" style rig.
