I heard that there was a smelt die off on Harvey lake, and if the smelt died the that doesn't bode well for the bigger fish. That coupled with the last time that I was out at the cabin there was a big bass floating by dead. So I'm wondering if it's happened again? We had a fish kill about five years ago and it really shut things down, hopefully it's not the case but time will tell.

First time we fished Harvey Lake was about 6 years ago, form shore and managed some nice bass, last two years we've gone in the boat and from shore and was a waste of trip to say the least, one trip we never got a bass, other trip we got 1, a 10 incher

As Bill said above there was a pretty severe fish kill at Harvey five years ago. DNR told us it was something to do with a rapid temperature change in the spring. Lake George, which is nearby, had the same thing. One of the guides told me he counted over a hundred dead bass on one shoreline. My buddy Glen was in to Harvey this week and he said it was very poor fishing. It is going to take many years to recover.

Yeas last year i went out to Harvey lake to go over to my brother in laws island and there were probably a thousand little fish just floating down at the community boat drop and wharf (also a few good size bass). At that time of year it seemed as though it got very hot in a short period of time. I asked a few people and friends about this and they told me it could be caused by the sudden change in temperatures also. However i have not seen anything to this nature yet this year , hopefully not this year again as i bet it would not be good for the other species
