If you don't mind my asking, which French Lake? The one near Minto or the one near Oromocto? I fished the one near Oromocto a couple of weeks ago and managed a couple of small pickerel and a few perch.

the french lake with indian lake and maquipit lake it has two steel bridges there

That lake most be one of the most scenic places to fish in the province, great for pickerel all over!

I'm looking to do a little pickerel fishing with my daughter on kayaks, and I'd love to try our luck here at French lake. Where is a good public launch spot? I don't know my way around there at all.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Lots of places, there are the two steel bridges on rt 690 at lakeville corner, but at the end of the sand point road would be the best spot you would be much closer to teh prime pickerel spots, just drive across the bridges and keep going straight until you hit the boat launch!

The biggest yellow perch that I've saw was 13 inches and it was reeled in by my daughter on Harvey Lake.

How soft is the ground at the end of Sandy point road? Would I be able to launch a boat with a caravan or will I get stuck?

i have a 15 foot bass boat that I fish that lake with and i need a 4x4 to take the boat out, the launch is typically very steep and sandy there.

I have fished 4 times at French this year and numerous times last year. I have a 16' Lowe alum with a 9.8 hp. I have had no problems with my Dodge caravan at Sand Point but my boat is fairly light.

Ive seen people launch boats there with everything from front wheel drive cars to big diesel 4x4's , just depends on how heavy your boat is i guess, but best bet would be at the bridges, nice hard and fairly level surface there, and it doesnt take long to get to the sandpoint from there, ive got a 12' alum with a 9.8 and it takes me 10 minutes tops, lake isnt very big, plus there are some good fishing spots on that side that i always stop and check first

Thanks guys I have a 14' jon boat with a 15hp motor. I think I'll try buy the bridges rather than risk Sandy point rd.

With that set up you may be able to launch at sand point and not even get your truck wet.
