Hey Everyone,

I recently moved from Ontario to New Brunswick and would really appreciate some spots to go fishing! I currently live just outside the town of Shediac. I love to fly fish and am looking to find a few good spots to fish around the Moncton area. I enjoy catching any kind of trout or bass. I would be willing to drive up to 1.5 hours outside of Moncton to go fishing. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for all of you who answer!!

P.S. I do not ow or have access to a boat, however I do own a set of waders.

For trouts I suggest Notre Dame (this is the cocagne river) as well, its probably the nearest place around Moncton... 25-30 min. You can also use worms.

Here is a thread on Notre Dame (could help out...) http://newbrunswickfishing.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19-notre-dame/

Another good place near Sussex (45-50 min)... However, this river is pretty long and some section of the river is C&R only etc... Please review the NB Fishing Guide book for all the regulations...

After that, this is more for salmon but you can still caught trouts you can go near Miramichi (SouthWest and NorthWest river) (Renous river)... Quarryville is a nice place, you can drive around the big bridge and just peek where everybody are fishing and parks etc..

Here are a few threads about this river

Bass/Perch probably the Canaan river could be good for you ...Going up to Salisbury you can probably look at the canaan and petty river

Petit (Petty) codiac and Little river

Is New Brunswick the most beautiful? And what a great place to live, so glad I moved here from Ontario. Although I have been to a lot of places I enjoyed in Ontario.

I love going to the Chipman area for Chain Pickerel. They are so much fun. It's at about your limit of 1.5 hours away. I was just there on Sunday with my float tube. Nothing like getting a big ole pickerel from the float tube, well any good size fish for that matter.

I like going to the Cains River for salmon and I even catch some trout there but I do go there for the salmon. Took a new friend last year for his first salmon fishing trip and we both caught a grilse and I caught a salmon that I had to release of course, but it's a fun place to fish as well.

[I was fishing in Chipman on saturday. The fishing was poor due to the river being full of gaspereau. So if your planning a trip there it is better to wait for a few weeks. The
fishing will be much better.
