I was also wondering if anyone has been out fishing flounder, or Know if the salmon cages are up in blacks or beaver harbour yet? I tried earlier in the year for them without any luck, but there weren't any cages up yet either.

I always heard that July was the best time for flounder. A few years back we had a spot where they'd let you fish between the cages and it was pretty good fishing, but I'm not so sure that there are too many cages left where they'll let you do that any more. Unless you've got an inside contact. Or at least the ones that i asked at told me that i had to stay outside the outer boueys about 50-75 meters away. No good if all the fish are chummed under the cages.

I didn't get down to fish the tides, but I did go later in the day to see if there was any activity down at Beaver Harbour. I see there are about 6 cages set up but nothing stocked yet. There is major construction taking place on wharf and a break water being built. If a person goes fishing during week it may be hard to find a place to park a vehicle and trailer do to all the construction. I checked some of the surrounding areas for wharfs/ramps to put a boat in and I thought Seeley Cove looked interesting to fish but didn't see any boat ramp. Does anybody know if there is a ramp in that area? I'm looking for a place to go this week for a day, as I've got a friend here from NY and he's after me to take him flounder fishing.

Very windy down shore. Tried fishing at Blacks harbour and had no luck. Came back through Beaver Harbour and saw that the wind wasn't too bad as the cages were on the lee side, so maybe I should have tried there but it was time to go to Comeaus for some seafood. I'll give another try in a couple of weeks.

Is anyone still catching flounder off the warf in back bay or beaver harbor? i grew up flounder fishing and do keep the odd one for a warf side luncheon, but have found that I don't catch them much anymore along the warfs. or even on the warf when i go to deer island.
