Anglers will need to go barbless and C&R and still the native fisherie will keep their quota. The only way to save the stocks will be to declare the NW and its tributaries closed to salmon fishing even though C&R has survival rates of over 99%.

This is partly the hook and release crowd wanting the New Brunswicker that likes to keep the odd grilse to get off the river because they know we will go home. If the stocks are that bad close it down, that way the Native fishery is closed down as well.

They can keep 4,000 grilse????????? WTF

It is a lot of fish however the amount taken by anglers is certainly not negligeable. Say if 1000 anglers take their limit then it is double the native quota. Does anyone know how many anglers licenses are sold annually? Although only a minority I would say reach their limit.

this entire issue pisses me off and I like this site too much to express my true feelings & opinions.
It blows my mind that 2 reserves are allowed to keep 8000 fish....there is no possible way that amount of people need that many fish.
give them gift cards to the local grocery store!!!
