I have been out to the cocagne river out in notre dame a few times this year and didn't get much luck. Caught and released about 3 small brookies after going there about 7 times this year. People say it depends on the day, but i clearly see it all depends on luck. I have tried everything there. I used spinners, spoons, spawn sacks, nightcrawlers, and never get much luck. Is there a specific part of the river to try, or specific bait and lures to use that get you guys more luck? I would really like to know because I heard of people pulling some big fish out of there.

I've been there numerous times since the last 2 weeks.... and yes, the sea run was pretty good.. it depends on luck I guess, luck is part of the fishing game
... but also of the weather condition and around which day/time you go fishing....but I heard and I saw some peoples caught 15-19 inch ... I caught a 15inch last Wednesday night.

About the baits.... night crawler and may flies (fly fishing) are the best...However, the run is probably gone by now with all the rains.... I was there Saturday morning at 6AM and the water was very high and dirty, it wasn't good at all...

Hopefully another run will come back pretty soon (because I assume this one is now gone with all this rains...) Good luck!

ive got a few nice trout this year in cocagne river been there almost every evening since its open, ive seen nice trouts come out of there up to 21 inches this year..... with lures and worms its mostly good there until 2nd week of may then after its little better with flies as the trout gets fussy and goes for smaller flies

I am just wondering if anyone is stil having luck in the Cocagne. I had my daughter out last week there without even a nibble. Hopefully I will get her into a few fish soon.
The cocagne river is a long river.. the run has been now moving since the last 2wks.. it depend where you fish I guess... you need to follow the run pretty much.

Are you fishing at the notre dame bridge?

I had the girls (wife and daughters) up farther where the Cocagne crosses the 126. When I have the young daughter along I kind of have to fish the easy spots. Once she is a little older we will do a bit more gettin' out of the way.
