This shortfin mako was captured by hook and line during the Yarmouth Shark Scramble off Nova Scotia, Canada by a sports fisherman. According to Dr. Steven Campana, Bedford Institute of Oceanography, the mako was a 24 year old mature female weighing 1,082 pounds (492 kg) and measuring 10' 10" (330 cm) in length




Ever wonder what bit off the tail of your storm shad???

That was quite an experience. Next time the big rod will be used! I couldn`t believe he melted the drag on the reel! I was waiting for it to attack the boat like jaws everytime it came up.

It would seem so. Not many bigger if you Google pics of those sharks. I'm glad it wasn't bigger or we'd have ended up getting towed to NS.
