Once you post a pic, it may also be helpful to know the general area where it was caught (lake abc, etc).

gdog... fallfish are often called chub, but in fact are not. They do look similar though. The link ipop posted above has a good description of the differences.

The picture in this thread does look similar to a fallfish to me. The tail, as well as the scales really look like them.

Fallfish, dark outline to the scales a dead give away, not a chub, not a shinner, not a carp, LOL! I have seen this argument before on the old site where now the old advanced members are newbies and the newbies are advanced? Ipop, only one to keep ur old name, and a few of us others i guess. Back to it, Fallfish, males will have tubercles on their snout.

. without seeing the dorsal fin and head better, i would say fall fish. only real other possibility would be creek chub, and 12" is to big for them. i think i would rather eat a sucker! lol
