I've looked high and low to see if there are any articles explaining why the run of Stripers in the St. John River was so huge in 1996, but I've never found anything. Can anyone fill in any of the details of this exceptional year for me? Why were there so many fish in the river that year? Why did the run peter out in each of the 5 or so subsequent years? Did other Bay of Fundy rivers experience a surge as well, or was it just the St. John?

I'd appreciate any reports from anyone who experienced the amazing fishing that summer, or info from anyone with a theory.
