Went into 3rd lake Mon morn. Set up camp and was on the water at about noon. Very poor fishing with only 8 fish boated. Tues was very foggy till about noon and cloudy in the afternoon, fish were going crazy, 81 in the boat and probably lost half that amount (fishing with weedless rigged worms). Wed was good also with 46 in the boat but we left early afternoon because the road in is very bad shape and I did not want to have a problem in there late or in the dark. Equal amounts of fish were caught in 3rd, the thoroughfare and Modsley. Cell reception was good in Modsley, didnt try 3rd lake area.
I fished Modsley on Saturday. The wind plus gust made for an awful day on water that day. It blew toward the rail bed put in so waves were large as they had time to build. I left early caught one bass and a handful of pickerels. Lake water was very warm and lower than I can remember.
Did u launch at the railway/ walking trail, I talked to a guy at the cabin on Mon and he said he launched there with a trailer?? Is that launch area just to the north of that sandy beach area?
Yes I launched from old rail bed just north of that sandy beach with that huge rock. I saw one guy launched a maybe 14 ft aluminum there. You need a good 4wd system to launch as I thought he was going to get stuck. Also I don't know how you would turn the trailer around once you got there.
If u enter McAdam, NB in google maps and zoom in, about 3 times, on Harvey Road just past the gun shop, you will see a dotted line going north towards Modsley Lake, This the NB trail. The boat launch must be in the area where the 2nd waterway crosses this trail, I don't know how to post the google map, haha
Casey, thanks again. I found it but just FYI Google Maps links can be shared by Right Clicking -> Directions To Here (dropping a PIN) and there the URL can be copied from the address bar.
I've found it useful when meeting friends because I can sent them exact locations.
